How marketing reporting works here

  1. Every source is pulled. Ad platforms, the customer system, spreadsheets. Most reporting tools stop at this step and hand you a dashboard.
  2. The analytical workbook is built first. One file where the numbers are computed and can be audited, before anything is presented.
  3. Figures are reconciled. Spend against the platform, results against the customer record. A figure that cannot be tied out stops the run.
  4. Your template is filled. Tables, charts and the slide order your clients already recognize.
  5. Commentary is drafted, then edited. Observation, implication, recommendation, written for a person to approve.

What separates this from the reporting software you already pay for

Reporting software shows numbers. This produces the document

Dashboards are for you. Marketing reports are for the client, and somebody still has to build one.

A gate can stop it

When a displayed figure does not tie back to the workbook, the run refuses to produce the deck. It has fired in practice rather than sitting unused.

Your customer system is part of it

Crm reporting usually lives in a separate tool from ad reporting, which is why the two never agree. Here both feed the same workbook.

Where this client reporting runs today

A marketing agency

One report per client, pulling spend and results from every channel. Their digital marketing reporting used to mean opening each ad platform, the analytics view and the customer system in turn, then copying figures across. Ten hours became twenty minutes.

What you get

What it connects to

Google Slides, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, Excel, HubSpot, Salesforce and Windsor.ai for ad platform data. If you run a financial dashboard as well, the same workbook can feed it.

Questions about client reporting

  1. Does the report change?

No. Your template is the specification and the output is your file with new numbers in it.

  2. How do you report marketing across channels that measure differently?

One definition per metric, agreed up front, applied everywhere. That question is most of what makes reporting hard.

  3. Which platforms?

The ones you run. Search, social, display, email and the customer system.

  4. Who writes the insight?

Drafted from what the numbers did, then edited and approved by a person.

  5. What if a number is missing?

The section is skipped or flagged. Nothing is invented to fill it.

  6. We already have client reporting tools. Why this?

Those show you numbers. This builds the document you send, in your format, and stops when a figure cannot be proved.
